Matterhorn the RIDE!!!

You can see how dedicated we are to the book club, not just in our PREviews and REviews, but also in how we go the extra mile to immerse our readers in the book club experience. For instance, last week we brought you Matterhorn Deodorant, this week we do you one better. Introducing a new Ultra Manly Book Club/Disney joint venture: The Matterhorn ride!*

In designing the ride, Disney wanted to bring to life our favorite characters from the book and give riders a taste of what the war was really like**.  I can’t remember where the Yeti with laser eyes was in the book, it must have been when they finally summitted the Matterhorn or Helicopter Hill.

Disney has also announced that they’re making a movie based on the ride, though no word as to how much the Vietnam War will actually be included in the movie.  When we asked the PR department, in typical Disney fashion they told us that they try to avoid blood, war, blah, blah, blah.  So it might not resemble the book as much as we had hoped.

Also, on the plus side, only two people have died on the ride since its inception.  So while safe, there’s still enough danger to thrill!

Have you been to Disneyland or Disney World and ridden the ride?  We’re interested to know the similarities and difference you noticed between the ride and the book.

*Again, not really. It’s been around for 50 years.
**Not true in the least.

About zach

Staring out across the hazy mountain range on his latest summitting of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Zach saw with a clearness he had not yet seen. "People should tremble at the very sound of my name", he thought. And it was so. "I should master the manly arts of the world, such as barehanded hunting and blacksmithing". And it was so. "People should call me Z$". And it was so.
